I bought my first horse from Janna Goldman at Black Sterling Friesians. I had visited her website for almost four years (or maybe longer, my memory gets a little fuzzy. I know I first found her website while we lived in Ketchikan, AK. I would stare at the pictures of all the pretty horses, drool over the videos she posted and sigh heart brokenly when one of my favorites on her website finally found his or her permanent home. So when my father passed away in late 2008 and I found myself suddenly capable of purchasing my very own Friesian through a not completely happy collision of circumstances, I raced back to her website and and drooled for several more months over her horses. And then I bought one. Paid in full. And I never saw anything more than his pictures, his videos, and scanned in copies of his registration papers and pre-purchase vet exam. Granted, Janna has over 700 testimonials on her website from places like Medieval Times. She’s been in business for, well, at the very least for the many years I’d been devotedly staring at her website like a rock band groupie. She’s a member of the Better Business Bureau. All things considered I was in very safe hands calling her up and saying “I haven’t ridden in 15 years, and I want to buy this horse from you”. She did confirm my choice, but I’m sure if I was picking out an unsuitable horse for myself she would have told me. Purchasing a horse sight unseen does work, with people who are upfront and honest like Janna, as long as you are willing to communicate your flaws and your desires and let them pick the horse for you. There are very few people like Janna Goldman at Black Sterling Friesians.  …I’m lucky to have landed in Janna’s hands

We had a filly this am at 5:30, she is just about perfect, she is the Andries foal from Brechtsje who we bought last summer. Janna, she is just about the nicest ster mare!
If someone had told me I would buy a horse sight unseen over the internet two years ago, I would have laughed, and yet that is what we did, and have absolutely no regrets.
She is a wonderfully trained, soft tempered mare and a wonderful mother.

He is absolutely gorgeous & you were not exaggerating when you said "fairytale appearance"! Funny, but even my "Oh great.... not ANOTHER horse" husband was impressed by him too and said he would like to ride him sometime! Now that was a definitely a first! I had to do a double-take to make sure I wasn't talking to an impostor! lol I also find it amusing that while Bellasio shows interest in all horses at his new barn he prefers the darker colored horses but only "talks" to the other Friesians. He's everything you said he would be and your description, photos, & video clips were great. Having never purchased a horse sight unseen before I was a bit nervous. He really is fantastic & everyone here loves him! Thank you so much..... I feel fortunate to have him.

Update.....
I am so very happy with my Bellasio purchase, which by the way, hubby rode this evening bareback and actually sat his trot! lol.... i'm jealous! He hasn't ridden a horse more than a dozen times in his life and that blew me away.... not an easy to sit trot even with a saddle! He does like him though and I owe that all to you!

Again, I just want you to know how much I LOVE Bellasio! I am so very pleased with my purchase from you and have NO regrets whatsoever! I truly appreciate your keen eye even with the lesser valued horses! I've had quite a few horses in my life but after receiving Bellasio I feel like a little girl with her very first horse! Even hubby has said how nice it is to see me thrilled about something after our past few years of stress and struggling with a new business!

3 Years Later...
The boys are doing fantastic. Bellasio & Hindrik are so wonderful and I've come to fully realize that Friesians are NOT your average horse- they are unlike any other. I get constant reminders of this while watching others take lessons on their various warm bloods, who are more often than not, balking, bucking, and rearing for no apparent reason and I thank God for my kind hearted Friesians!
...we've had several people at shows tell us "that's an amazing canter". AND..he had TONS of admirers at the Ventura County Fair Friesian Day show! It was even a bit overwhelming at times. He really seemed to be enjoying all of the attention though!

...my two boys are talented, healthy, beautiful, AND my experience w/ buying two site unseen horses was fantastic!  Bellasio just turned 25 (as of Apr 2024!)

Hi Janna, Luca is here!!  The transport trailer was amazing. Luca had his own 8x10’ stall. Joe, the owner/driver of Chasing the Sun Transport (CTS) really seemed to like Luca and took care of him as though he was his own horse. I highly recommend him and his company.
Luca is beautiful and just the perfect size for me! I can’t believe he is actually here and that he traveled 7,000 miles to come live in SD.  

I wanted you to know he arrived safe and sound and that I love him! I’m quite amazed at how well he is doing already after his recent long trek. I let Luca out in his corral this morning. He had a great time romping through the snow! It was very fun watching him move even in the snow. He is doing great.   Thanks again for finding him for me and making the trip here seamless. All of those involved in his transport were wonderful, keeping me up-to-date as to his location along the way. Thanks so much for everything, Janna!

Sietse is just AMAZING. He is a true once in a lifetime horse. He is just what I was looking for. After riding him, I had him in the cross ties and he put his head in my arms and hugged me. He is such a nice horse. Super smart and supple. Sietse is a very special horse!

I am thrilled that I was the one to be blessed with Salvatore becoming a part of my life. There was just something about him that really clicked with me! He’s a very sweet boy and wants to please—and he’s hilarious at the hitching rail. He’s always trying to nuzzle me when I’m grooming, tacking, or washing him. A very curious and in your pocket guy! My sister Brenda even got on him for a few minutes a few days ago. She hasn’t been on a horse in 5 years or more, but after watching me ride she felt comfortable trusting him. He was awesome with her.

I’m really having a great time with him. Thanks again!!! I’m very happy with my “pony” and know we’ll have a great time together.
