BSF Rider's Girls Weekend in Pt Reyes and hike to Arched Rock
Terri, Alyssa and I had plans to take Nobby, Majestic and Ate on a horsy vacation.
We were all set to go.....Alyssa made reservations for the "humans" at the Tomales Bay Resort, and for the horses at a horse B and B.
Alas, the influenza breakout in California, which has brought our import busness to a screeching halt lately, also closed down the horse B and B.
But that didn't stop us---- the BSF girls had vacation plans, with or WITHOUT horses, so after toasting the weekend with a glass of champagne in Greenbrae, we piled into Alyssa's SUV and headed to Tomales Bay.
I feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of friends and supporters at the barn. Alyssa, a schoolteacher in Fairfield who is just completing her Masters in teaching, also gives lessons on our friesians [she can be reached at 530-723-2420; lessons are $60]. Terri is a former BSF customer, who purchased the long haired fairytale boy, Maji, and helps ride and train all our friesians and show them to customers; AND she just completed the Rock and roll marathon in San Diego and is training fo the Nike marathon, when not riding our beautuful black horses.
We spent the evening playing pool and chatting with a wedding party at a Pt Reyes pub. Pt Reyes is a haven for cyclers and motorcyclists on the weekend, and was packed with two wheeled riders on sunday morning. What a quaint town (see photos above!). We decided to check out the trails that allow hoirses, so we would have everything plotted and planned for our next horse camping trip--and we completed a marvelous 9 mile hike to Arched Rock. The views of the Pacific ocean were just SPECTACULAR.
I have to say, with Pt Reyes, Tomales Bay, and Stinson Beach right in our backyard, i don't know why we travel anywhere to go on vacation!
It was a bummer that we weren't able to be on horseback this trip, but what a relaxng, fun weekend with the BEST of friends.
