Friday:
Our 5 friesians have
brought home a SLEW of ribbons and roses, and this show is only
half over…
Majestic,
the amateur saddleseat friesian under
saddle champion from last year’s show, proved his
versatility and was Reserve Champion Open Huntseat Pleasure.
Julia and Stormy were Reserve Champions in the Open English
Pleasure, and a well deserved 3rd in the UPHA Challenge
Cup class.
Ron was Walk and Trot Friesian Under Saddle Champion
Ron drove Stormy to the Amateur Open Pleasure driving
championship.
Janna
won the Amateur Open Eng Pleasure class with Sterling
Janna also won the Amateur Friesian Under saddle class.
Newcomer, Ferrari [Ate’] was Reserve champion
in the Junior Horse Friesian Under Saddle And the Friesian Park classes.
Saturday:
It was a remarkable day…Ron won the Friesian Under Saddle Walk and Trot
Championship first thing this morning, then he went on to win the Friesian
Working Singles Driving class with our Storm-bucket….which we thought
was remarkable, because usually he doesn’t get tied because he doesn’t
have an expensive or fancy carriage. Majestic
proved even more versatility today by readily winning the Friesian Dressage
Suitability class.
Sunday:
May
15 was Ron’s 49th birthday,
and it was my wish for his special day for him to win the Open
Pleasure Driving Championship, and see his daughter in the
winer’s circle, as well. My wish came true, and Stormy
and Blu trotted away with the tri-color, beating various breeds
AND professional trainer’s that always seem to frown
at us at the shows.
Julia had a rematch against
world champion equitation rider, Jared Hill, in the Jr Exhibitor
Friesian Under Saddle Class. Last year, Jared came out on top,
but this year, Julia and Stormy presented a perfected polished
picture, to win this classSterling was good in the Open Pleasure
Championship, but just not bright, like he was in the qualifier,
and he was crowned Reserve Open Pleasure Champion to our friend
and great Morgan trainer, Bell, riding a very nice Saddlebred.
Janna was also Reserve Champion
Saddleseat Friesian Pleasure Champion, and rode the wild man,
Ate’ [our Ferrari horse] in the Friesian Saddleseat Park
Championship. This was a close class, with another one of our
friesian friends, Lance Bennett’s horse, Otto.
The Judge worked the class both ways of the ring, then called
for one last trot before lining up. Ate’ turned it on
for the final bid for the Championship, but was not able to
contain himself as he trotted towards the barn, and broke into
the canter, thus ending up reserve Park Champion.
All in all, we took 5 horses
to the Woodside Show, and came home with 9 championships….our
family will be smiling for at least a week.
