Results from the Del Mar Charity Fair Horse Show

Excerpt from Saddle and Bridle magazine, Jun 2004 issue:

"The Friesians are growing in numbers rapidly on the West Coast. Leading the stables that feature these beautiful horses is the largest importer of Friesians in North America, Black Sterling Friesians, in Northern California. Janna and Ron Goldman own this amazing facility. Janna trains her own horses and presents them with incredible grace in the show ring. "

We had a fabulous show at Del Mar, winning 7 out of 10 classes. 14 yr old Julia Goldman decided to enter her gelding, Stormy Seas, in the Open Eng Pleasure stake, going against professional trainers, AND her stepmom, Janna, on Sterling.
Just finding a good place on the rail was difficult in the championship class crowded with 12 entries of Friesians, Morgan's, and American Saddlebreds. Our BSF team goal was to come out of the ring, 1 and 2, and sure enough, number 105 was called out in first place [Black Sterling], and young Julia's number 106 was called out in reserve! Sterling received a wreath of roses around his neck, and Julia received a dozen red roses. Presentation photos were taken, and the two Goldman girls exited the ring in a victory lap with the tri-color grand champion and reserve grand champion ribbons flowing from their Friesian's bridles. We were elated, as this was the THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR that Black Sterling has remained undefeated at Del Mar, and the third year in a row that he was crowned the Open Eng Pleasure champion, competing against primarily other breeds.
